Independence Day did we Change ??

15th Of August it is!! Happy Independence Day INDIA

I have been noticing quite a few changes from the past few days both in this life and our second life as we all feel it to be “social networking world”. All of a sudden new programs are aired in news channels, special episodes where stars come out to make their presence felt in public taking this to be the best occasion for promoting their new ventures.  Websites changing their display according to the INDIAN tri color, the so called netas of our country planning to attend some school to hoist the flag as if they take pride in doing so... On and on what not is happening around us!! He He and we are no step behind any one of these people. All of a sudden we change our dp's we write slogans, we add patriotic songs and like to listen to them.....

Why am I telling all this? Am I blaming you? Am I blaming the society? Whose side do I fall in?  Even I am no less than all of you following the same steps which you take trying to prove something to others trying to tell the world around me “hey look even I have changed for a day”.

Amongst all this my sis called me up few days ago and said Chintu is a part of his school program and he according to some theme is taking part in the Independence Day Program of his school I said wow I’ll be there.

So there I was at his school and looking at him and his friends: hardly 3 years old, who don’t even know how to talk properly, leaving their house by 8:00 some even early, in their best attire along with their parents for what reason? They hardly know what the word INDIA means to all of us! On one side are the parents who know what this day 15th of august meant to them, on the other side are these kids who have no idea but are just following what their teachers asked them to do, carrying an object each in their hands which has no meaning to them but just a thing that each kid has in his hand.

These Tiny Tots forced me back to my school days when I used to be a part of some of the other program during this day. Be it a small drama, some song or later down my schooling days in a Parade! Leading my ROSE hose platoon in school in my final year. Wow so much of excitement and active involvement. Am sure this must be the scenario with all of you. If not every occasion of this kind but at least some time somewhere…..

But what are we doing now? Do we have the same enthusiasm today? Yes? No?  Ok let me tell you what I feel. Life: Work: Expectations: Targets: Future is taking a toll on all our activities. It is not that we don’t have the spirit of patriotism; it is not that we don’t have respect for our Country; it is just that years have passed by we have changed according to that to live up to the expectations of others around us. But we don’t leave a chance to grab the opportunity to celebrate the spirit of India and we choose that in the ways we like to express it this may it be through the sports, gatherings or be it the solidarity we show standing up to a cause it is just that the ways we express our thoughts have changed with time and we have changed with it. Even I feel the same way when after years I have actually stepped out of my place on this day taking it as learning from these small kids and trying to convey to them the importance of the Independence Day 15th of August 2011 and years to come ……
